Hi everyone! I know I’ve been absent for quite some time now. Life has been well to be honest a bit blah. I’ve been stuck in the proverbial rut for quite some time now and I’m happy to say that I’m getting my life back again. I’ve gained some of my weight back. I was eating very poorly, I’ve missed more workouts than I dare count, and let’s face it I just gave up on myself for a while. It’s way easier to go out with friends, drink my weight in wine, and feast on whatever comes my way than to actually deal with my problems. Now it’s time to get back to taking care of myself and making that a priority over my need to consume large amounts of calories when I’m not exactly feeling like little miss sunshine.
This week I’ve begun really focusing on my calorie intake and what exactly I’m eating. Being mindful of what I eat because things can go awry very quickly I’ve come to find out. Haha (wine I’m looking at you). About 1800 calories is my goal, that’s about a 500 calorie deficit and a pound a week of weight-loss, though it may be more in the beginning.
I’ve found it really helpful to use an app for planning and tracking meals. I’ve been using the MyMacros+ app and I’ve been loving it. Instead of logging every time I eat I actually plan ahead my meals for the next two day, I enter all the nutrition information for what I’ll be eating and then I’ll prep those meals for the next few days. I’ve found its much easier for me to schedule my meals and then have that to follow, because I sometimes have a hard time sticking to something unless I write it down. It’s also great to see my calorie count, plus how many grams of Fat, Protein, and carbohydrates for each day. I’m certainly more aware of what I’m eating using the app, it’s eye opening to say the least.
I’m also back to the gym 5 days a week, and boy howdy do my legs hate me this week. We started the week off with Squats. I found the max amount of weight I can lift without injuring my back is about 100 lbs. Not too bad considering the history of back issues I’ve had. I feel good, I feel like myself again. I haven’t felt this focused in awhile and it’s great to have my spirit back. Little accomplishment of the week: This week I did my first real Burpees! Did I look ridiculous, sure, but I have never been able to do that before and now I can.
Progress Update:
Since I’ve been gone for so long I haven’t had the chance to share this progress picture! The picture on the left is from February and the right is from about 2 weeks ago.
Seeing this really helped me get out of the funk I was in and want to keep going. It’s crazy the difference.
Onward and upward!
