30 in 30: 30Lbs. Down!

Hi everyone! Officially as of last week I have lost (and kept off) my first 30 pounds!

Its taken me almost an entire year to lose this first 30 pounds. I know that’s not a large number compared to the 120 lbs I still need to lose. However I am feeling more motivated than ever before and I am so proud of where I am today.

This first milestone has not been an easy one to reach by any means. I’ve both fought tooth and nail to loose the weight and given up completely in the same year. Sometimes even in the same week! I have not had unwavering will power and strength throughout this process.

What I have had is an amazing support team working in my daily life. I’ve been able to get up after the many times I’ve fallen off this stubborn old horse. I’ve made changes that impact not only my quality of life now, but my future health and wellness. A lot has changed in a year, and I am not the same person I was a year ago.

Where I Am Now

Starting weight: 307

Current weight: 277

Starting pant size: 22/24 | 3-4x

Current pant size: 20/22 | 2x

Losing the first 30 lbs has been about way more than just losing the physical weight. Actually the more incredible changes have been on the inside instead of the fact that I’ve dropped a pant size on my exterior. I have a healthier and more positive outlook on life. I can move easier, breather better, and tie my shoes without getting getting out of breath anymore. Haha! Overall life is pretty good 30 pounds lighter and a whole lotta baggage later.

The best thing I’ve ever done for myself, was to start this journey and give myself the time to work some things out. It’s no secret that I was a mess when I started this. Slowly I’ve been able to begin to untangle the mess of a lifetimes worth of insecurities, hurts, and baggage of who I believed myself to be. It’s been a liberating (yet sometimes painful) process, and I’m excited for the progress that is being made to live my best life.

30 in 30

Here are a few things I have learned in my first 30 pounds. Thank you for being here with me through it all.

  1. Salads for breakfast, while weird, are surprisingly delicious
  2. Cardio is unfortunately necessary
  3. I will not die from exercised induced asthma (there was a few times I wasn’t too sure)
  4. I can run a mile if I try
  5. I really hate running
  6. What you eat directly impacts your performance inside and out of the gym.
  7. I really like squats (BOOTY GAINS!)
  8. Resting while injured is a must and not something to be ashamed of.
  9. Feeling good > French fries (my mantra when I’m having a moment of weakness)
  10. DRINK WATER
  11. I have become a firm believer in counting calories and staying accountable.
  12. Each person has their own pace, just because I can’t lift 300 lbs now doesn’t mean I never will.
  13. Practice makes perfect and form is everything!
  14. Losing the weight is about so much more than the number on the scale.
  15. You never know how bad you’ve been feeling until you feel great for the first time in awhile. Remember that feeling.
  16. Working to figure out how I got this way is just as important as working out and eating right.
  17. You never have enough leggings. NEVER.
  18. Find what you love and make it your passion. (Unless you love cookies, don’t make that your passion.)
  19. There is no way to justify eating an entire Molten Lava cake by yourself no matter how bad you want it. (Trust me I tried everything and it’s not worth the 1200+ cals)
  20. Don’t beat yourself up when you fall, get back up and try again. And again. And Again…
  21. You can’t un-eat what you already scarfed down ashamedly in your bedroom while hiding from your family. (Twinkie I’m looking at you!) Take a good look at yourself and do better starting now.
  22. Giving less than you can at the gym is only hurting YOU. Don’t be that person.
  23. Meal prepping is not as hard as you think it is. Instagram that ish!
  24. I never thought I would eat this many eggs in my life. (Protein baby!)
  25. You are stronger than you think.
  26. Stretch like your life depends on it!
  27. Consistency is key.
  28. You do not need as much food as you think you do.
  29. Learning control is a major part of success. Practice this daily. It’s okay to say ‘no’ to yourself.
  30.  Trust the journey. This is only the beginning.
