Hi everyone!
Let me start off with a DietBet update: I (sadly) did not win my DietBet (I was 2.7 lbs away!). I lost 9 lbs in 4 weeks so I am in no way disappointed, but I will be trying again soon! Overall DietBet was a great motivator and really helped me stay on track. Now on to the vacation!
We had an amazing week. Denver was incredible and just as beautiful as I imagined it to be. The people were so friendly and the food delicious. All around our trip was just like I hoped it would be. We got to visit with our closest friends, see things we’ve never seen before, and we made memories I will always cherish. After a great weekend in Austin with our friends we took off to Colorado early Monday morning around 3am with our friend Warren in tow, we arrived in Denver at 7 that evening (that drive though). Through west Texas it was pretty much barren land with the occasional movement from a tumbleweed passing by. Once we hit New Mexico mountains were in view! That night we stayed in because we were so tired from the drive up there, we were all sawing logs by 8pm.
The next day we were up bright and early to visit Mount Princeton Hot Spring Resort in Nathrop, CO. It was about a 2 hour drive from our Air B&B rental, but the drive was so beautiful we didn’t mind. This excursion was by far my favorite. To be in a cozy hot spring surrounded by mountains and snow, I’ve never been so relaxed or enthralled in all my life. I cannot describe in words to you just how freaking gorgeous the scenery was. We soaked for about 2 hours, talking and laying our heads on the giant rocks all around the spring. The rocks were like giant ovens and kept our part of the spring really warm. The water reaches a toasty 120 degrees in some places, and occasionally we’d have to move because the water would be surprisingly hot.
While getting into the hot spring was wonderful, getting out of the hot spring and into the cold (it was about 26 degrees that day) was not quite as fun. We ran to the dressing rooms with frozen fingers and numb toes, giddy and so happy to be freezing our butts off in the mountains. We brought snacks and sandwich fixings to have a picnic in the car. The resort had a gorgeous lodge style restaurant with a view of the mountains, but we were on a budget and the view from our car was just as good haha. I know the pictures will never do this place justice but I hope it gives you a taste of how beautiful everything was!

Stay tuned for part 2!
